Book reading

Yesterday, after a few weeks of having a hard time bringing our little girl to bed, I had an idea. My girl loves to read. Instead of carrying her around – which wouldn’t help anyway -, let her play a little or leave her alone for a while, I decided to sit down on the couch with her and her little bear, and read a book. It was the first time I actually managed to read her a whole story. She was just silent, listening to my voice, watching the pictures and leaning on my belly. It was lovely, just lovely. After the story, I asked her if she wanted to go to bed, and she said yes. I tucked her in, closed the door and… Heard nothing anymore. What a difference to all the screaming and crying! Today, her dad managed to do just the same thing. Just a peaceful, quiet moment.
We were so confused when the crying started a few weeks ago. We thought she didn’t feel well, was having problems with travelling, teething maybe, last week she has been ill, but by now, things should have been fine again. And they are. She never had problems going to bed as soon as we had found our rhythm, and obviously, this didn’t change. She just grew a little bigger, this baby of mine.  And we didn’t grow quickly enough with her.
